    Ukraine Today: A Presentation with Dr. Joshua Duclos - February 5, 2026, at 6:00 pm at ML
    Join us  for an engaging presentation on Ukraine with Dr. Joshua Duclos.
     

    Dr. Duclos will share insights from his recent time in Ukraine, where he served as a volunteer teacher and lecturer at several universities during the war. He also worked in a kitchen preparing meals for soldiers. Drawing on these firsthand experiences, Dr. Duclos will offer an accessible overview of the conflict, including its origins and development.
     

    Dr. Duclos is the 1923 Chair of Humanities at St. Paul’s School in Concord. He holds an MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago and a PhD in philosophy from Boston University. A former Fulbright scholar, he is the author of numerous articles in moral and political philosophy and the book Wilderness, Morality, and Value (Lexington, 2022).
    This program is free and open to the public.

    The Plainfield Libraries will host a free Blood Pressure Clinic on Friday, February 6. Volunteers will be available throughout the day to provide blood pressure checks and share basic wellness information.

    • Philip Read Memorial Library: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

    Many thanks to those that reached out to express interest in getting together to share their excitement as we look to the upcoming gardening season.
    For those that didn’t see last month's posting, I am interested in gathering at the Masonic Hall in Cornish Flat, and the Plainfield and Meriden libraries for a relaxed sharing of our thoughts, suggestions and gardening resources. Whether it is a variety of tomato, a favorite recipe, gardening for pollinators, or how to keep your pruning shears sharpened, let’s see what we can do to support each other and local gardening.
    So that you can mark your calendars, I have put together a schedule for us to look forward to. As we get closer to these dates, I will put out a reminder so that you will be sure to set aside some time for yourself and your neighbors. Please text, call, or email me your thoughts and questions:
