    Location: Philip Read Memorial Library
    Time: 6:00 PM
Admission: Free and open to the public

Join us at the Philip Read Memorial Library for a fascinating evening of history and discovery on Monday, August 24 at 6:00 PM.

Presented by the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists, this engaging talk—“Three Men and a One-Shilling Knife: A Genealogical Look at Local History”—dives into a dramatic 1788 tavern killing in New Durham. Through newspapers, court documents, military records, and more, the program traces the lives of three Revolutionary War veterans and reveals how genealogical research brings New Hampshire’s past vividly to life.

The presentation will be led by Sarah Brown, a passionate genealogist and active member of the state’s historical and lineage organizations. With a background in history and years of hands-on research, she offers a compelling look at how family stories and local history intertwine.

Whether you're a seasoned researcher or just curious about your roots, this program offers a unique window into the power of genealogy.

Come explore the stories hidden in the past—and discover how history connects us all.
